Shirley Stacy

Shirley Stacy, 76, of La Porte, IN, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2020, with her family by her side at her home in La Porte.

 

She was born on January 8, 1944, in Hazard, Kentucky, the daughter of Tilden and Nanabell (Spencer) Vires.

 

On June 25, 1960, in Knox, IN, she married J.B. Stacy. In 1968 they moved to La Porte County, where Shirley worked as a housekeeper and cook at Countryside Nursing Home. She retired in 2000. Shirley loved sitting on her front porch, where she read and did puzzle books. She was a huge fan of "Elvis".  Shirley loved her life, most especially those grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

 

She is survived by her son, Michael (Sherry) Stacy of La Porte, IN; daughter, Sherry Clemons of Jackson, KS;  three brothers, John Vires of Fort Wayne, IN, Dave (Donna) Vires and Hershall (Phyllis) Vires of North Judson, IN; three sisters, Donna Clemons, Alice Lear and Carol Haskins of North Judson, IN; Brother-in-Law, Farley Mullins of La Porte, IN; four grandchildren, Sara (Matt) Cunningham and Patsy Stacy of La Porte, IN, Charlene (Chris) Allen and Travis (Kelli) Clemons of Jackson, KY; seven great-grandchildren, Jayme, Levi, Gunner, Kurston, Maleah, Caden, Natalie; and special friend and sister-in-law, Nancy Richie of La Porte.

 

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, her husband J.B. in 2010, sister, Pearl Saltsman, 2 brothers, Harrison Vires, and William Thomas Vires.

 

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN.  A graveside funeral service will be held at Kingsbury Cemetery on Thursday, May 21 at 12 noon with Deacon Farley Mullins, First Free Will Baptist, Rolling Prairie, officiating. Interment will follow. Visitation will be private.
