John Stephen "Steve" Johnson, passed away at his home in Kingsbury on April 26, 2020. 

 

Steve was born in La Porte on September 7, 1963, to Donna and John Johnson.  He was a graduate of La Porte High School in 1982.  Steve was a Paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne and served between 1983-1987.

 

Steve was an amazing carpenter and his work can be seen all throughout La Porte County.  He was religious and loved to fish, hunt, snowmobile, go boating, and spend time with his son.   Steve was once a professional dirt bike racer.

 

Steve was married in La Porte on April 7, 1990, to his wife, Laurie Lynn (Moore) Johnson.  He is survived by his son, Austin Johnson of Kingsbury; wife, Laurie Johnson of Kingsbury; brother, Gary Johnson of La Porte; parents, John and Donna Johnson of Florida; and his dogs, Boomer and Bear.  Steve will be dearly missed by his son, wife, and family.  He will never be forgotten.

 

Due to guidelines established by the State of Indiana in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, services are pending.  Burial will follow at Kingsbury Cemetery.
