Goldie Mae Decker

Goldie Mae Decker, 91, of Rolling Prairie, passed away peacefully at 11:06 a.m., Friday, April 24, 2020, at Community Hospital, Munster, IN.

 

She was born September 29, 1928, in Knott County, Kentucky, to Burn and Nancy (Brown) Combs.

 

Goldie was a member of Meer Road United Baptist Church, Michigan City. She was a nurse for 28 years, retiring from Mt. Sterling Clinic after 18 years of service. Previously she was employed, as well as her husband, William F. Hill, at Mary Chiles Hospital, Mt. Sterling, Kentucky. She was the greatest baker there ever was and made delightful candies and fruit cakes. Goldie was also very talented at sewing, sewing like you could not believe. She was known to her family as always being right even when she was wrong. Goldie was a loving daughter, sister, and aunt that will be dearly missed.

 

On January 27, 1950, in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, she married, William F. Hill, who preceded her in death in 1984.

 

On September 5, 1992, in La Porte, Indiana, she married Arlo Gene Decker, who preceded her in death on January 15, 2002.

 

Also preceding in death were her parents, Burn Combs and Nancy Clemons; father, Milo Clemons; two brothers, Milo Clemons Jr. and Rev. Henry Clemons; and two sisters, Edna Louise Garrison and Lorene Childers.

 

Surviving are four sisters, Anna Ruth (Donald) Martin of Ocala, FL, Helen Fay (Lance) Whitefield of Eustis, FL, Bertha (Hershel) Patrick of Knox, IN and Juanita (Ray) Bellis of Rolling Prairie, IN; two brothers, Martin Clemons and A.D. (Agnes) Clemons both of Michigan City, IN; several nieces and nephews; adopted daughter, Jennifer Stacy; three grandchildren, Travis, Chantell, and Larry Spelts; and two great-grandchildren.

 

A private visitation and service will be held. Burial will take place at Machpelah Cemetery, Mt. Sterling, Kentucky. Lakeview Funeral Home & Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd., La Porte, (219) 362-3100 is caring for the arrangements.
