Lewis E. Brooks , 86, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Monday, April 13, 2020, at 9:20 pm in Franciscan Health - Michigan City.

Private family services will be conducted. A celebration of life gathering will be announced at a later date. Burial will take place in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens. The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Michigan City, IN is handling arrangements.

He was born November 13, 1933, in Fort Ridge, TN to the late Frank and Helen (Lipscomb) Brooks.

Surviving are his wife, Delores Brooks of Michigan City, IN; daughter, Stephanie (Tony) Davis of Nashville, TN; three sons, Brandon Brooks, Mark Brooks and Eric Brooks, all of Michigan City, IN; two sisters, Juanita Brooks of Sacramento, CA and Joann Brooks of Little Rock, AR; four brothers, Claude (Shirley) Brooks of Milwaukee, WI, Raymond (Paulette) Brooks of Birmingham, AL, Kenneth (Sandra) Roberts of Austin, TX and Donald (Mary) Brooks of Michigan City, IN; uncle, James Lipscomb of Kingsford Heights, IN and host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was also preceded in death by two sons, Troy and Randy Brooks; three sisters, Evelyn Buchanan, Betty Turner, and Ruth Brooks; and his brother, James Brooks.

Lewis had worked at Joy Mfg. and retired as a correctional officer at Westville Correctional Facility. He also retired from Blue Chip Casino and was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Lewis was a member of the John Franklin Miller American Legion Post 37 and he enjoyed golfing.
