Marion Wanser Jones

Marion Wanser Jones passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2020, at home with her family.

  

Marion was born on June 4, 1934, in Long Branch, New Jersey.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Margaret Wanser and sons, Allen and Kenny Jones.

 

Marion is survived by her son, Steven "T-Bone" (Connie) Jones; daughter-in-law, Betsy Jones; 6 grandchildren, Jason (Jamie) Jones, Jon Jones, Kendra (A.J.) Bradburn, Jenna (Brian) Trethewey, Kelsey (Andy) Bogard, and Melissa Jones; 5 great-grandchildren, Kenny and Jenifer Talboon, Emily and Will Trethewey, and Maggie Bradburn.

 

The family would like to give recognition for the care given by Mary Ann Engle and Lovie Rhodes.  Special thanks to Betsy Jones, Nancy Shannon, and Julia DesLauriers.

 

Marion came to the La Porte area with her husband, Gene (divorced), to raise her family.

 

Marion’s true passion was horses and she passed her love for them on to her sons.  She was the backbone to their success in many competitions.

 

Marion was employed at GTE as a switchboard operator for many years.  She loved softball, playing for local teams. She was an avid fan of the Notre Dame Women’s Basketball program.  Marion enjoyed reading, playing cards, collecting sports memorabilia, and gardening.  Although quiet, Marion enjoyed talking with those she held dear.

 

It was Marion’s choice to be cremated, which has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.

 

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
