Elizabeth E. (Garner) Cox Nickell, 96, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2020, at Memorial Hospital, South Bend, Indiana.

 

Elizabeth was born on October 15, 1923, in Tennessee, the daughter of Venoy and Amanda (Ramey) Garner.

 

Betty worked at the Kingsbury Ordinance Plant during WWII.  After WWII, she became an LPN and worked for many years in this field.  During her free time, she loved working in her garden, tending to her flowerbeds.

 

Elizabeth is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, William and Sherrah Cox of Oakdale, Tennessee; daughter, Kathy Thomas of Okeechobee, Florida; brother, Paul (Lana) Beaver of Culver; sister, Wilma Garner of Knox; 15 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; as well as numerous great-great-grandchildren.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, William Beaver, Bobby Beaver, and George Garner; sisters, Mildred Garner and Marie Cavinder; sons, Harry and David Cox; and daughter, Patricia Cole. 

 

Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.  A Celebration of Life Service is planned for a later date.
