Ruth H Gnatt, 97, March 22, 1922-February 7, 2020, of New Carlisle, IN, passed away Friday, February 7, 2020, at Hamilton Communities, Inc. in New Carlisle.

 

She was born March 22, 1922, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of William and Helen Engbrecht.

A member of the Lutheran Faith, Ruth truly loved God. She worked as a Bookkeeper and could meticulously balance a checkbook. Ruth enjoyed playing the guitar and singing and was especially fond of animals. She was very handy and could fix just about anything. Ruth was instrumental in helping her husband stay sober.

 

She is survived by her step-daughters, Mary Gigliotti of La Porte and Judith Gnatt Shupe of Santa Ynez, CA; two grandchildren, Amanda (John) Jones Penziol and Brandon Jones; six great-grandchildren, Mason Jones, Kai  Jones, Brooklin Jones, Ava Penziol, Addison Penziol, and Aiden Penziol; niece, Lynn Davis.

 

Along with her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Rudolf; brother, William; and sister, Laverne.

 

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN. A private family interment will take place at the Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte, IN.
