Music notes: *NSYNC, Taylor Swift and more

"Bye Bye Bye"? More like "Rye, Rye, Rye" — and maybe some bourbon, too. *NSYNC's Lance Bass and Joey Fatone are co-hosting E!'s Cocktail Wars, a reality competition show featuring bartenders going head to head as they mix up beverages for celebrity guests and expert judges. The mixologist who comes out on top after 10 episodes will take home $10,000. The show will debut this summer.

After traveling around Europe with Travis Kelce, Taylor Swift was in New York City on Monday night. As per Page Six, Taylor, wearing a black Valentino minidress with a crystal-covered bodice, was seen with her mom, dad and brother heading into The Eighty Six, a steakhouse in New York's West Village, for a post-Mother's Day dinner. Taylor and Travis have recently been spotted in London having dinner, seeing a show and going to a party, and then in Greece attending Travis' teammate's wedding.

Last year, Ed Sheeran and Shakira teamed up to co-write "Zoo," a song performed by Shakira's character in Zootopia 2. But that wasn't the only song they wrote together. On his Instagram Story on Tuesday, Ed reposted a video Shakira shared of her new FIFA World Cup 2026 anthem, "Dai Dai." He wrote, "Thank you to @shakira for involving me in the writing of this. I love it, and I CANT BLOODY WAIT FOR THE WORLD CUP COME ON." The song will be out Thursday.

RAYE was a surprise guest on the American Idol finale on Monday night. She joined guest mentor Alicia Keys to perform Alicia's classic hit "Fallin'," which you can now watch on YouTube. "ALICIA KEYS I LOVE YOU," she wrote on Instagram.

RAYE cast in crime drama 'Lineage'

RAYE performs at the 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, November 8, 2025 (Disney/Frank Micelotta)

RAYE is having quite the moment right now: She's got a sold-out tour, a hit single with "Where Is My Husband!," an American Music Awards nomination, an upcoming stint opening for Bruno Mars and now her first acting role.

A rep for the singer confirms to ABC Audio that the singer has been cast in Lineage, a British crime drama that will also star French movie icon Isabelle Huppert. According to Variety, filming is expected to start in London in early August.

As per Variety, Lineage is about a Londoner named Tariq who's trying to get himself back on track after a stretch in prison. But he finds himself pulled back into a life of crime — and back into the reach of his crime boss mother — when his brother asks him for help. It's not clear what role RAYE will play in the movie.

The movie's director, Yann Demange, is quoted in Variety as describing the film as a "love letter to the London that I grew up in and love," and says it "honors and delivers on the crime genre in an exciting and fresh way."

As for how RAYE will be able to fit this into her busy schedule, she has a break between appearing at the Montreux Jazz Festival on July 3 and her first date opening for Bruno on Aug. 21.

Gracie Abrams started 'Daughter From Hell' the same day she recorded 'That's So True'

Gracie Abrams, 'Daughter From Hell' (Interscope)

Gracie Abrams' new album, Daughter From Hell, has been quite a few years in the making.

Gracie's producer, Aaron Dessner, shares on Instagram that they started working on Daughter From Hell on the same day they recorded "That's So True" at Electric Lady Studios in New York City. That song, her breakthrough single, was released in the fall of 2024.

"Multiple songs on this album were made in that time," Aaron writes. "Since then we have searched and searched for songs in [my studio] Long Pond, in London and back at Electric Lady."

He adds that on the album, "You’ll hear us expanding our musical vocabulary and pushing into uncharted waters sonically, and most of all the sharpening and deepening of Gracie’s lyricism and expression in ways that continue to astound me."

Describing the album as "absolutely the most moving and powerful work we have done together," Aaron writes that "it feels elevated in every way."

"We will share more details soon on all the dear friends who helped us along the way."

Aaron also writes, "I can’t believe it’s been 6 years since Gracie and I started making songs together. I’m deeply grateful for every song we have made and the way we have kept challenging ourselves and growing together as collaborators and friends, sometimes hitting the wall, and then pushing and breaking through."

Daughter From Hell comes out July 17. The first single, "Hit the Wall," will arrive Thursday at 8 p.m. ET.

Lady Gaga's bringing 'Mayhem' to streaming — and to a theater near you

Lady Gaga performs during 'Apple Music Live: Lady Gaga MAYHEM Requiem' (Courtesy Apple Music)

For Lady Gaga, doing a regular concert film is so "been there done that." That's why, when it came time to document her Mayhem Ball tour, she went in a different direction.

Apple Music Live: Lady Gaga MAYHEM Requiem is a film of a one-night-only show that Gaga did Jan. 14 at LA's Wiltern Theater. It's described as a "celebration and musical reimagining" of her album Mayhem and features her performing rearrangements of the album's songs, surrounded by what's designed to look like the ruins of the Mayhem Ball's opera house set.

You can get a sneak peek of Gaga's performance of the song "Shadow of a Man" now. Other songs she performs include "Abracadabra," "Die With a Smile" and "Disease."

You can register online to get free tickets to one of 15 one-night-only screenings of the film, which will take place Thursday at 11 p.m. ET in cities including New York, Nashville, Seattle, Boston, Chicago, Minneapolis, Orlando and Washington, D.C.

If you want to watch it in the comfort of your own home, it will premiere on Apple Music on that same day and time, and you won't need a subscription to watch the premiere live. If you're a subscriber, you'll be able to listen to a live album version of the film on-demand starting Thursday.

Madonna to premiere 'Confessions II'-related 'visual work' at Tribeca Festival

Madonna, 'Confessions II,' (Warner Records)

Madonna has a confession: She'll be appearing at the Tribeca Festival in June.

To go along with her upcoming album, Confessions II, Madonna will premiere a "visual work" that's a little over 10 minutes long. Soundtracked to the first six tracks of the album, it's a story that unfolds over six chapters and documents what's described as a "f*****-up night out that's remembered not for what happened, but for how it felt."

Among the songs included are the two that have been released from the album so far: "I Feel Free" and "Bring Your Love."

Directed by David Torso and Solomon Chase, the film shows Madonna being "ambushed, pursued and ultimately worshipped" by "a roving squad of camera-wielding femmes" in a variety of settings, including a car, a club bathroom and an arena.

After the screening, which will take place June 5 at New York's Beacon Theatre, Madonna will appear for a conversation with the directors and Jimmy Fallon.

Tribeca Festival co-founder Jane Rosenthal says in a statement, "Madonna has spent decades proving that reinvention is its own art form. Confessions II feels immersive, provocative, and completely of the moment, while still channeling the kind of nightlife mythology only she could create."

Confessions II the album is due July 3.

Hilary Duff covers 'Sports Illustrated' Swimsuit Issue, even though she says she's 'not a spring chicken'

It must be luck or something: Hilary Duff is one of this year's Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover models.

Hilary joins social media star Alix Earle, comedian and actress Tiffany Haddish and model Nicole Williams English as the cover girls for the 2026 edition of the iconic issue. SI Swimsuit editor-in-chief MJ Day writes, "Hilary’s career arc is its own form of quiet rebellion, in which she continues to reinvent herself, leaning into each season with confidence, humor and grace."

You can see Hilary's full shoot online now; it was done in South Caicos, one of the Turks and Caicos islands. Hilary, 38, mostly wears one-piece suits and a few high-waisted two-pieces.

“I’m a mom of four and I’m not a spring chicken,” she tells the magazine. “So, of course it was flattering.”

She adds, "I don’t typically frolic around in a bathing suit, so it was a little scary. But it was also incredibly empowering. It was a mostly female crew on set, and it really felt like a celebration of women.”

“I can look at my body now and appreciate all the things it has done for me,” she notes. “I no longer find that I am constantly comparing myself — and that is a better place to exist.”

The magazine spread comes ahead of Hilary's upcoming live performances: She has three shows at The Voltaire in Las Vegas starting on May 22, then she'll officially launch her Lucky Me tour June 22 in West Palm Beach, Florida. The tour comes in support of Hilary's album luck... or something, which came out in February and was her first in more than 10 years.

Katy Perry pretends to cry over ex Josh Groban's engagement

Katy Perry attends the Balenciaga Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2025/2026 show on July 9, 2025 in Paris, France. (Marc Piasecki/WireImage)

If you're a Katy Perry fan, you may recall that she called her former boyfriend, Josh Groban, "the one that got away" in a 2017 livestream and said that he inspired her song of the same name. Now, she's leaning into that, reacting to Josh's engagement to his girlfriend, Natalie McQueen, in a new TikTok.

In the post, we see a screenshot of People's story about the engagement, soundtracked to a sped-up version of "The One that Got Away." Then, a sad-looking Katy appears in a bathrobe, pours herself a glass of what looks like beer, makes a toast and starts crying. The caption reads, "Congrats."

Of course, Katy isn't really broken up about Josh's engagement: She's been dating former Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau since last year.

In 2018, Josh reacted to Katy's admission, telling Bravo's Andy Cohen that they dated but "realized we were better as friends." He also said, "I was not expecting that. ... It’s very sweet of her to say that.”

He added that after listening to the lyrics to the song, he was confused about her claim that he inspired it.

"I'm like, 'I've never owned a Mustang. I don't have a tattoo. Are you sure that's about me?'" Josh told Andy. "I was very flattered by it, but I was very surprised, too."

Report: Taylor Swift 'waited in line alone for food' at wedding of Travis Kelce's teammate

Was Taylor Swift searching for some wedding inspiration when she popped up in Greece for the wedding of one of Travis Kelce's teammates?

Taylor and Travis were seen in London last week dining out, going to the theater and attending the birthday party of Cara Delevingne's sister Poppy. But according to People, the couple later touched down in Glyfada, Greece, on Saturday to attend the wedding of Chiefs defensive end George Karlaftis and his bride, Kaia Harris.

The couple — especially Taylor — reportedly kept a low profile throughout the traditional Greek Orthodox celebration. According to Huff Post Greece, Taylor "danced the night away, chatted with guests, waited alone in line for food at the buffet, and impressed those who met her with her simplicity and friendliness."

The publication also claims that Taylor and Travis arrived in Greece by private plane and stayed on "her boat near the hotel where the reception took place."

"We have such cool friends, and the people we invited were just the best," George told People of the three-day celebration, which featured 220 guests. "Everyone got along, made new friends, and danced together. I couldn't have asked for a better day and night, honestly."

Madonna and Sabrina debut, JENNIE scores first solo top 10 on 'Billboard' Hot 100

Madonna & Sabrina Carpenter, 'Bring Your Love' (Warner Records)

Monday, May 11, is Sabrina Carpenter's birthday and she's received a nice present: She and her new pal Madonna are on the Billboard Hot 100 together.

Their duet "Bring Your Love," which they debuted at Coachella, has entered the Hot 100 at #74, the week's highest debut. It's Madonna's first time back on the Hot 100 since 2023, when she teamed up with The Weeknd and Playboi Carti for "Popular."

Meanwhile, JENNIE is Ms. Charisma: She just scored her first top-10 solo hit thanks to her remix of "Dracula" with Tame Impala. The original version of the song is from Tame Impala's 2025 album, Deadbeat. After JENNIE hopped on the remix, it went viral on TikTok, with people posting videos of themselves lipsyncing the line, "My friends are saying, 'Shut up, JENNIE, just get in the car.'"

JENNIE is now the second member of BLACKPINK to score a solo top-10 hit, following ROSÉ's collab with Bruno Mars, "APT."

Elsewhere, Ella Langley continues to hold the #1 spot on the Hot 100 with "Choosin' Texas," and now she's also got the #2 slot with the song "Be Her."  She's the first woman who's known primarily as a country artist to score the top two spots on the Hot 100 simultaneously.

Dua Lipa sues Samsung Electronics, claims company used her likeness on TV packaging

Dua Lipa is suing Samsung Electronics for at least $15 million, alleging the tech giant used her image on television packaging without authorization to help market and sell TVs.

According to a complaint obtained by ABC News and filed in California federal court on Thursday, the Grammy-winning singer accused Samsung of copyright infringement after the company allegedly placed a copyrighted image of her on the front of cardboard television boxes sold at retail stores across the United States.

"Recognizing Ms. Lipa's notoriety and goodwill, Samsung used a copyrighted image of Ms. Lipa...without authority or license and prominently featured it on the front of cardboard boxes containing Samsung manufactured televisions for retail sale," the complaint states.

The lawsuit alleges Samsung ignored repeated demands to stop using the image.

"Samsung has refused to comply with Ms. Lipa's repeated demands that it cease and desist from infringing on her rights by the continued exploitation of the Infringing Products," the filing says. "Samsung's response has been dismissive and callous, and the Infringing Products remain on the market to this day, still being sold throughout the country in ongoing acts of willful infringement."

The image in question was allegedly taken during the 2024 Austin City Limits Music Festival, according to the complaint.

Lipa's legal team argued the unauthorized use of her likeness helped boost sales of Samsung televisions.

The filing cites one consumer who allegedly wrote they purchased a TV after seeing Lipa featured on the packaging.

The singer's attorneys also said Lipa is highly selective about the brands and partnerships she aligns herself with.

"Ms. Lipa is highly selective in her commercial partnerships and has cultivated a premium brand through carefully curated, high-end sponsorships and endorsements," the complaint states. "Consistent with this deliberate strategy, Plaintiff would not have agreed to license her name, image or likeness in connection with the sale of the Infringing Products."

ABC News has reached out to representatives for Lipa and Samsung Electronics for comment, but did not immediately hear back.

Samsung has not publicly responded to the allegations.

For RAYE, 'Where Is My Husband!' isn't just a song title

RAYE performs at Fillmore Auditorium on April 6, 2026 in Denver, Colorado. (Andrew Wevers/Getty Images)

RAYE is currently on top of the world: She's out on her This Tour May Contain New Music headlining trek, and in August, she'll open for Bruno Mars on his stadium tour. In June, she'll receive the prestigious Hal David Starlight Award from the Songwriters Hall of Fame. What more could she ask for? Well, maybe a boyfriend.

Speaking to Billboard, the British singer, songwriter and producer says her song "Where Is My Husband!" is more than a hit single: It's sort of her life right now. “It’s been genuinely so many years that it feels alien to me," she says of dating.

"Sometimes I’m very assured and confident and happy with my life, and then some days I’m watching a rom-com, and I’m like, ‘Where? Where?’” she continues. “But it’s not serious. I’m not crying myself to sleep every night — just some nights.”

Perhaps RAYE can console herself with the fact that she's still getting billions of streams, winning awards and topping the charts in her native U.K. as an independent artist. Maybe she can just remember those times when Taylor Swift and SZA threw their support behind her by taking her out on tour in 2024 and 2023, before her current breakthrough.

"I’m just really grateful to all those girls,” RAYE says. “That little time they took to pour into me really affirmed me and made me feel encouraged. Those things can make all the difference.”

Olivia Dean sets UK chart record with latest single

Olivia Dean (Lola Mansell)

Olivia Dean is ruling the charts in the U.S. with "Man I Need" and "So Easy (To Fall in Love)," but back home in the U.K., it's another song that's led to her setting a new chart record.

Olivia joins fellow British singer/songwriter Sam Fender on a duet version of his song "Rein Me In," and that song has just spent a tenth week at #1 on the U.K.'s Official Singles Chart. That means Olivia is now the British female artist who has spent the most weeks at #1 with a single song, ever.

Plus, "Rein Me In" is now tied for the longest-running #1 song by a man and a woman, matching the record set by "Umbrella" by Rihanna and Jay-Z back in 2007.  Sam recently joined Olivia onstage at London's O2 Arena to perform the song with her live.

Olivia just finished up four sold-out nights at the O2. She'll bring her The Art of Loving tour to the U.S. starting July 10 in San Francisco.

Meanwhile, on the U.K. album chart, The Essential Michael Jackson greatest hits compilation has just returned to #1 for the first time in 17 years, thanks to the hit biopic Michael. Two of the late King of Pop's other albums, Thriller and Bad, are both in the top 10.
