David Michael Schnitzer

David Michael Schnitzer of La Porte, Indiana passed away on February 7, 2022, at age 66.

David was born May 13, 1955, in Schiller Park, Illinois to the late William and Opal (Hirst) Schnitzer.

David met his wife, Colleen Anne (Kerwin), in Schiller Park, IL.  She preceded him in death on November 13, 2020.  They were happily married for 39 years, with five children: Ryan (Anna) Schnitzer, Ashley (Nick) Julian, Allison (Luis) Carrillo, Rebecca (Richard III) Bockhorst, and Rachel Schnitzer; six grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and brothers, Greg, and Billy Schnitzer.

David was a warehouse manager with Edward J. White Plumbing and Heating. He enjoyed his work and really cared for his co-workers.  He attended Faith Baptist Church in La Porte.  David loved playing with his grandchildren more than anything in the world.  He enjoyed fishing with his wife and had always dreamt of owning his own boat.  He purchased one this past year and it brought such joy to him.  He was a die-hard sports fan, and always cheered for the Chicago Bears.  He went back and forth between the Cubs and the White Sox, based on who was doing better each year.  He could be found watching any sport at any time of day and had some of his best conversations with a game in the background.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Friday, February 11, 2022, at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 12, 2022, at the funeral home with Pastor Eddie Heavner officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Lake Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the New Day Foundation of LaPorte, P.O. Box 13 LaPorte, IN 46352-0013.
